The Good Stuff...

We had another busy week & weekend in the Conn home. The girls attended Vacation Bible school this week, which they LOVED! Redeemer Church always puts on a wonderful VBS program every year. I must admit, we did struggle a bit getting up! (Mainly the girls, I was up all but one day!)

This weekend, the girls did their usual, softball & then outside with the neighbors. We were relieved when cooler weather came today. It was the perfect chance for us to spend a little time outdoors as a family. We headed to Jubilee State Park for several hours. The girls enjoyed swinging, playing kickball with us, Madi looking for bugs & just resting looking at the blue sky. We attempted the teter toter, however both girls were less than thrilled.
So excited to be at the park!

Daddy trying to catch butterflies!

Wow! He caught one!

Daddy flying our kite!

Madi searching for bugs.

Daddy enjoying the cool breeze!

The girls are heading to the pool with daddy tonight, they LOVE to swim!

Wishing everyone a wonderful week and a HAPPY INDEPENDENCE day!

We LOVE summer!

Three Silly Gooses!

The flowers around my lamppost.

With summer break here, the Conn kiddos have been OUTDOORS 24/7 (or so it seems).
You know, recently we made a decision to eliminate cable TV from our home for several reasons. First and foremost, we felt the kids spent too much time parked on the couch. YES, we too were guilty of too much TV time, but the kids seemed to be the worst. Even when we put a pass code on the TV, they would migrate to the ONE that did not have a pass code. We felt that they were seeing and hearing too much that was influencing them in a negative way. As parents, we can only protect our kids so much, but Brent and I felt we needed to do what we could at home.

How this child loves to swing!

All I can say is WOW! What a difference a little less TV has made in our home. Yes, it was VERY hard at first, but we have gotten used to it and believe it or not I started my second novel yesterday. (I began the first late last week.) We are spending SO much more time together doing what we need to be doing, being a family! The best part of it all, our kids are FINALLY playing outside like normal kids! For the longest time we would have such a struggle getting them to go out, now, they are only in when the weather is ICKY! I know that God was trying to tell us something the day he told us enough is enough! Not to mention the money we are now saving, which does not hurt at all with Brent's layoffs this summer!
Can you say.....NO Sissy! ( yes we were having a BOSSY moment!)

This weekend we had our annual Hunington Garage sale, we did OK. It was no Weaver Ridge sale, but we did ok. We did manage to make enough to purchase the matching sofa to our love seat and chair set. This will go in our great room. I am excited to turn this into a TV room. The sofa should be in in a few weeks and we will do some TV switching and get the room all set up. I will add photos as soon as it all happens. Madi loved helping with the sale and Anna, well she just loved running all over the neighborhood with the other neighbors!

Madi and Dina sat and posed today for me, oh how they love the camera! Little cheesers! These two are just the best of buds, I love to see their friendship grow! Today we were gone for a while and as soon as we pull in, here comes Dina! Gotta love her! If I could I would adopt her!

~ TWO PEAS IN A POD~

The girls and I spent today watching old videos of them. My how time goes by so fast. I can hardly remember them so little! I see those videos and wonder where my babies went?!? It all goes by in a blink, you are so busy living it, you don't have time to enjoy it. Thank goodness for video, it captures those funny & sweet moments forever!

Hug your babies...they grow so fast!

So much to say....

It's Summer!

Where to begin?
Things have been B---UUUU----SSSS---YYYYY!!! But that is just the way we like it around here, seeing ourselves coming and going.
FIRST....Mommy finished up her school year-----YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!! "SCHOOL's OUT FOR SUMMER!!!!" Gotta love it! Yes, teacher's relish in the freedom JUST as much as the kids do!!!! LOL

The girls had their FIRST softball game this week...that was exciting! Madi had several base hits! She really got into the game, and enjoyed playing several different positions! Anna was a bit slow to start but soon got into the mode. We are going to have to work on our ethusiasum for the game. She could win the award for BEST cheerleader.
Madi running to 2nd base!

Rylee is Anna's friend from school. They are on the same team & Riley's dad is the coach! She came over to play on Saturday. What fun they had!

This is Rylee's baby brother, isn't he cute? He LOVES the camera!

Our dugout looked more like a swamp on Thursday. Needless to say, the kids came home MUDDY!!!! Can you say BATH???

On Friday, Madi had her tonsils and adnoids removed.
Just hangin' out on the couch!

She was such a trooper and did a GREAT job! It has been a long weekend, but she seems to be handling the pain quite well. She has been adorned with gifts from friends and family! Thank you to her softball team for the sweet card, it made her feel X-tra special. Also to our neighbors the Tahers...we love you all! Grandma & Papa have also stopped by with wonderful gifts as well!
I will say that I am ready to take away her little bell...I feel like her servant! Ikes!

Hanging out with my BFF!

After 2 days....Madi is DONE with ice cream!

Until next time....enjoy your family!
